Preparing For A Fun Golf Vacation For The Family

Typically, golf vacations are for seasoned golfers who want to try their hand at new and challenging golf courses around the world. However, as the golf sector grows, the market is growing as well to include vacations geared toward golf training and family golf vacations.

To learn about fun ways to plan a great family golf vacation, keep reading.

1. Choose a golf resort that’s family friendly.

If you’re planning to bring your family along on your next golf vacation, choose a resort that seems family friendly. Look for alternate activities like tennis, swimming, spas and recreation areas so that family members who don’t feel like golfing have other optional activities to do while you’re all out on the green. Or for those who do enjoy the sport, you can look around to purchase appealing golf-related gifts.

2. Investigate training and school possibilities.

A lot of new golf resorts are starting to offer golf boot camps geared toward all levels and ages of players. If your little ones are just learning the sport or you’re trying to improve your skill, this can be a great option. Some resorts offer junior training camps and a separate course for the adults to enjoy while their kids are at golf school.

Another fun and cost-effective idea for families is to hire one professional instructor to work with the entire family over the course of a day or a week. Your instructor can evaluate your skill levels, work with you through a game, and you can spend your vacation learning the game together.

3. Try renting junior gear for the kids.

If your children are still growing, you might want to look into renting, borrowing, or buying used gear. Junior clubs come in a variety of sizes. Before you shell out the money for a brand new set that will be too small by next year, you may want to look into less expensive options.

4. Pack lots of sunscreen and water.

Kids are durable, but before you set off on a long day of walking the course with them, make sure you’ve packed lots of extra sunscreen, bottled water and a hat. Heat stroke and burns happen often on the golf course, so be prepared.

5. Leave early for your tee times.

Parents know that kids can take forever to get ready, so if you’re typically at the course 30 minutes ahead of your tee time, aim to be there an hour in advance if you’ve got the kids in tow.

6. Spread the wisdom.

Use this opportunity to impart on your children the importance of good golf etiquette and strong sportsmanship.

A golf club would also create a low cost weed wicker for your lawn and the process of removing weeds with your golf club can also act as your work out for the day. It all rolls mutually into one nice little package if you really let your mind go.

You can employ it to remove that horrible hornet’s nest from under your roof although you may want to wear long sleeves for that. It can also be useful at removing icicles from your roof as well but this requires a higher level of safety preparation that you may not be inclined to participate in. Learning golf is not a simple task that you can carry out  brainlessly. Golf in real life is sometimes pretty challenging and will require that you focus on the proper rules and form.

You need to be aware of some common mistakes that first timers are prone to make and a seasoned golf instructor can help you from committing those same mistakes.

Everything becomes simpler with the help from a seasoned instructor.
This is one mistake that beginners usually make: new golf players who are learning to golf usually lookup when striking.

This is not good as it can result in a stroke being counted even if you did not hit the ball. It is vital to always look down until after you have hit the ball. You can achieve this by keeping your hips rotated after the hit. Extend your arms fully - this position really helps a beginner who is learning golf. Pace yourself by counting to up five after a hit to avoid looking up too quickly.

Another common mistake for golf learners is that once on the green, too many putts are missed. You can prevent this by taking a putting stance and looking at the top of the ball. This will increase your probability of hitting the ball while steering it towards the direction you are aiming for. The success you experience will steer you towards bigger accomplishments.
It is interesting to see the ball of new golf players, going to the sides instead of the middle of the green. A little bit of patience will make a big difference in redeeming this situation.

Proper stance is vital to execute the perfect stroke. You need to make sure that you are taking the time to carefully examine your stance before each swing so you may need to back up a little to make sure that you are not hitting the ball from the side of the club. Hitting the ball from the side of the club will definitely throw the ball to the side of the green. Ensuring a solid, square swing will cause your ball to fly to your desired location with continued practice.

Be mindful of hooking - they are most irritating bad habits that are pervasive in most amateurs learning to play golf. Some have problems with their stance which causes the ball to hook, while others are grasping the club too tightly, causing it to hit the ball inaccurately. Hooking the ball is also caused by the act of holding on to the club too hard. Of course, always remember that practice is essential if you want to improve the game of golf.Learning to play golf is not a simple task that you can carry out brainlessly. Preparing For A Fun Golf Vacation For The Family

Golf used to be a “gentleman’s game,” basically a game only for those who could afford to buy the right equipment and clothes required of strict club codes. But, as courses open up to the public and the price of equipment becomes attainable, golf is quickly gaining mass appeal.

That said, golf is a game of skill and, unfortunately, the cost of private golf lessons still remains somewhat prohibitively expensive for many new golfers. To learn about some ways to save money on golf lessons as well as get the most for your money before you start, keep reading.

1. Work within Your Budget

Don’t rush into twice-weekly, full-round private lessons. Instead, take a look at your golf budget and see what you can afford.

If you have a low budget, you need not feel any compulsion to make an entire golf vacation out of your pursuit. Rather, perhaps you could get yourself into a group class or share a lesson with a friend. You will not receive one-on-one attention in a group class, but you get the advantage of working with other golfers, hearing their questions and concerns and watching how your coach teaches them.

Another option is to just book one or two private lessons to address any specific questions or problems you think you may have. If you’re comfortable with putting, maybe just book one or two sessions to work on your drives or fairway shots.

2. Try Home Study

If you don’t have the funds for private or group lessons, try learning at home with instructional books, DVD’s, magazines and even online tutorials that can help you with everything from your form during a swing to lining up a great putt.

DVD’s are a great way to watch a pro in action and see the full movement of an almost-perfect swing. You can often borrow these from the library or purchase them at a discount online.

3. Practice

If you decide to commit to an extensive private lesson plan, stick to it and practice outside of your lessons. You’ll not only see improvement faster, but also ingrain the lessons into your memory if you practice your new techniques right away.

4. Get Quotes

Shop around for a good price on golf lessons. Try calling different courses, schools and pros to check rates, and don’t be shy about asking for discounts.

Always ask for first-time customer discounts, pay-in-cash rates or volume rates, where if you buy a certain number of lessons and pre-pay, the price of each individual lesson is discounted.

Preparing For A Fun Golf Vacation For The Family

October 31st, 2008

I’d overlooked for years the importance of practising with a golf swing trainer, thinking that they were purely gimmicks that were a waste of money. But within weeks of first using one, I’m converted.

First, the golf grip trainer forces you to place your hands into exactly the right position on the club. It also encourages you to maintain this correct grip through the back swing and then down into hitting the ball and the follow through. Having used the grip trainer a few times, my hands naturally started to fall into the correct position.

Now my grip feels comfortable at the top of the back swing, a feeling that had previously gone. OK, professionals can correct your grip and show you how to hold the club properly, but it is so easy to go back to old habits if you aren’t having regular lessons.

By picking up the golf swing trainer, the grip trainer in the handle automatically moves your fingers into the right place.

They are also, typically, shorter than most clubs whilst weighted and twisted so that they feel correct during the swing. With care, they can be used to practise indoors safely! This means that you can easily pick up the training aid and do a few practice swings each evening.

The second training element of this trainer is the swing training. Because of the weighting the proper path of the swing is slowly coached into your arms and when you go back onto the course or the range, you should feel you are hitting much better.

I never thought much of these tools until I tried one. But having experienced what they can do I am convinced that for the small price they really are worth the effort of buying one. You can practice in a spare 10 minutes in an evening, and because you aren’t actually hitting balls, you really do concentrate on the swing, not seeing how far you can smash the poor ball.

So today was my first trip out around a golf course since I’ve been using the swing trainer. Did I see any difference? Well, on the very first hole, a par 4, instead of losing the ball off to the right somewhere, with a 3-iron it soared straight down the fairway, much to my surprise. Which was a pity, as I’d aimed left and at a bunker, which I thought at over 240 yards was well out of reach.

I wasn’t upset - a straight hit with a carry of over 200 yards with a 3-iron is a vast improvement on my game. I’ll be using that swing trainer every night now to make sure that more are going dead straight and far!

Also read about stretching exercises for golf - this is part of your success as well.

Preparing For A Fun Golf Vacation For The Family

Golf is a great game, and over the years the number of players playing the game is increasing more and more. The golf courses are usually very large and it becomes quite tedious for the golf players to move across the courses on foot. Carrying the golf cart across the golf courses also tends to become a very weary task, and this is why many golf clubs provided the golf players with caddies. The caddies used to carry the golf bags for the players, but still the players had to walk across the length of the golf course. To make matters better, clubs started providing golf carts to their members, when they wanted to play a round of golf. This made moving around the golf courses much easier for the players.

Since their introduction to the international market, golf carts have become very popular with golf players around the world. The first golf carts were manufactured to help those golf players who had some kind of disabilities. They were introduced some where in the 1940’s. Though the initial golf carts were much tougher as they needed to be pulled along, several innovations were made to it, and later on golf carts were available, that could be driven along just like cars. The first golf cart which could be driven along ran on gasoline and was manufactured by Merlin. L. Harvolson. The very first golf course that used golf carts was located at the town called The Villages in Florida.

Since the introduction of the gasoline powered golf carts, many companies tried to make innovations to them, and thus led to the introduction of the electric golf carts. The electric powered golf carts became more popular than their gasoline powered counterparts and are much in vogue nowadays. However using electric golf carts has its share of disadvantages too, as users need to ensure that their carts have enough charge in them to cover the whole distance, otherwise you have to search for a power source when the charge is down. Thus electric golf carts should be limited to use closer to your homes, so that you can charge them when required. With gasoline powered golf carts you would not face the problem, as you will be able to carry some gasoline with you all the time.

Although golf carts were primarily manufactured to help people in golf course, people have found to use them for various purposes. Nowadays people use golf carts to travel short distances, even though they are not granted by the government to be used on normal roads. Manufacturers allow you to make all the additions you want to make to golf carts to make them more suitable for your use. They are still considered to be a great part of the wonderful game of golf and makes life far easier for the golfers.

Every golfer knows how important a good set of golf clubs is to their game and many golfers spend quite a tidy sum of money to purchase the best quality clubs they can afford. In addition, many golfers also spend a lot of money on private golfing lessons and golf training aids, but sometimes they overlook one simple and fundamental thing; their golf grips.

It is very inexpensive to be able to outfit your entire golf club set with new grips, and it is an effective way to help improve your game, as it helps you with having more consistency due to the ability to have a better hold on your clubs. Having a firmer and improved grip allows you to improve the delivery of your swing.

When you gold clubs have been used continuously and the golf grips worn out, it makes no difference if you buy thousands of dollars of the best golf training aid products available in the market, you will still not improve your game simply because if the grips are in bad shape it will just deteriorate your game. For golfers that are really serious about improving their game to the highest potential, they know that every aspect of their golf equipment has to be kept in the best condition possible.

For a lot of the amateur golfers, they tend to forget about changing their golf grips. For novices, it is even worse as the have the tendency of playing with the same golf sets for many years and then they wonder why they are still not improving their game the way they expect, despite spending a lot of money on training courses, spending so much time in practicing, and procuring the most expensive of golf training aids.

The professionals on the other hand know exactly the importance of changing their golf grips regularly, and as a matter of fact they even ensure that their clubs are re-gripped at the end of each and every round of the golf tournament or event that they are playing in. They do this so that their clubs fell does not change and that their hands feel the same on each round that they play.

It would certainly be an overkill to change the golf grips after every round for the average golfer, but considering the extremely high level of competition in the golf tournaments today, every advantage counts and for the pros they will leave no things to chance. By the fact that the professionals are putting that much emphasis on ensuring that their grips are in the best condition, it should not be surprise for any other golfer why they are not in the same league if they are unable to make the same commitment in keeping their golf equipment in top condition.

The general guidelines for how often to replace grips are as follows. If you play golf an average of one time per week, then the grips on your clubs should be changed once every year. If you frequently play a round two times a week, then you should increase the frequency of replacing the grips to twice a year. If you also get to the driving range once or twice a week, then you should change those grips even more often than that.

You may not need to replace all of the grips on your club set at the same time. It really depends on how often you use your clubs. You can choose to only replace the grips on the clubs that are used more and are starting to feel worn. However, some golfers like to have all of the clubs re-gripped at the same time so that, for awhile at least, all the clubs have the same feel to them.

As a habit, you should check the condition of your golf grips at least once a month, do this especially if you do play golf on a weekly basis. Any grip that seems to have a slick and shiny feel has to be be replaced. When you put your hands around a well conditioned set of grips, it should feel a little sticky and should always feel great in your hands.
